In 2019, Sydney Opera House management tried to significantly erode working conditions across the House.
Proposed cuts included reducing the minimum call to three hours, introducing split shifts across the entire Visitor Experience portfolio, reducing shift cancellation notice to two days (and 24 hours for casuals) and reducing the roster cycle from four to two weeks.
When MEAA members stood together in opposition to cuts, management backed down on conditions but offered only a 1.8% pay increase. We deserve a better deal!
